When Walt was in charge, he said that male Cast Members had to have kept hair. That meant no mustaches, beards, or long hair. So that meant Walt couldn’t have even worked at his own theme park. Interesting no?

This week’s Silly Symphony is another Mickey Mouse cartoon. I’ve really been interested with them recently. Anyways this week’s is Thru the Mirror. I adore this one! I think the music is great along with all the dancing! I think the creativity is fabulous in this cartoon. King Neptune is in it too! It was first showed on May 30, 1936, but the storyline is fantastic! It is very Alice in Wonderland and is about how Mickey falls asleep while reading Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carrol and all his adventures while asleep. The end is cute! Enjoy!

I was reading a post on The Disney Blog and I thought that this was very cool. I guess there is another rumor, that Disney might be building a theme park in Texas, Shanghai, Kansas, Las Vegas, New York, and Hawaii. Wow…that’s a lot of money. To find out more about this artice, check out The Disney Blog! Okay…Kansas? Tornado City! What were they thinking?!?!?!?

There has been a  rumor that over the last couple few months, the Walt Disney Company has been running a huge  campaign asking “Are You 23?”. The ads I guess (shrugs), have been visible on some company websites and Disney even launched a website  about it, so  you can sign-up to be emailed imformation as the campaign goes along. I don’t know much about it but I’ve heard that the  “D23″  club will have an annual fee, offer discounts on Disney merchandise, hold an annual convention at one of the domestic Disney Resorts, and offer exclusive “member-only” merchandise through Disney Shopping. I can’t say that these rumors are positively true, like I said – they are just rumors. But Disney has said that they will tell all on March 10. I will keep you guys posted!

I was reading a article from MiceChat and I thought this was cute. There was a couple on Feb. 6, by the Snow White fountain who was proposing. See? It is the most romantic spot at Disneyland. Anyways, MiceChat had asked the Disney PhotoPass photographer for the photo! How cute huh? Anyways….she said YES! (I hear weddingbells!)

You will find no Pepsi at Disneyland. Disneyland has been a Coca-Cola sponser and vice-versa for many years and ONLY sell Coke at the parks. So, I hope you’re a Coke fan, not a Pepsi one!

What a great story! A 100 years ago, Frances Taylor was to ride aboard the Titanic with her parents on its 1912 voyage. But her family’s voyage was over-booked and they got bumped. On friday the 13th, the now-100-year-old from Lake Forest went aboard another boat, this time, the “it’s a small world” ride.

With Mouse ears on her head, she leaned over to daughter Maggie Winn as they emerged from the attraction.“You know, it really is a small world,” she said, beaming.

I guess her family had asked Disney to make her 100th birthday memorable. So Disney followed the orders. Taylor was greeted at the main gate by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Disneyland Marching Band, confetti, and mouse-ear balloons. “Oh, golly,” she exclaimed as Mickey and Minnie Mouse took turns kissing her cheeks.

The band led the Francis with more than 20 family members in tow, to the front of the Main Street railroad station, where she was presented with a custom, mouse-ear birthday hat, a personalized pop-up birthday card, another confetti burst and a round of “Happy Birthday.”

Disneyland spokesman John McClintock was asked about the VIP treatment and if future centenarians can expect similar fanfare. He said situations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Taylor’s children contacted the theme park, explained their mother’s history and asked for anything the park could offer to make her landmark birthday just a little more special.

Taylor was able to get in free to the park via the “What Will You Celebrate” promotion, in which guests this year are admitted free on their birthdays.

After surviving “it’s a small world,” Taylor joked that she was ready to try the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster. Instead, she ended up eating birthday cake with her family and spent the rest of the day shopping for Dopey and  Show White merchandise.

Most of of this post was from the OC register, so thank you for all the information! I couldn’t have written in any better way.

This creepy little dude is a MIT Media Lab robot. A graduate student, created this oddball that has circular OLED  eyes.  The robot is supposedly enabling new ways to research human-robot social behavior.

The Wired blog network says, “The new bot, called TOFU due to its stretchy and bouncy actions, was based on animation techniques from Disney’s 2D cartoons from the 1950s. If you remember the cartoons of the time, you’ll notice that the “squash and stretch,” “secondary motions,” and eye rolls shown by the robot are quite accurate. According to the robot’s creator, this type of motion is usually not used in other bots.”

Here is an interesting link to a video of TOFU. Interesting to see if he goes on the market! He is quite quirky. Thanks Wired for the information!
